TED is a global community, welcoming people from every discipline and culture who seek a deeper
understanding of the world. We believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and,
ultimately, the world. On TED.com, we're building a clearinghouse of free knowledge from the world's most
inspired thinkers — and a community of curious souls to engage with ideas and each other, both online and
at TED and TEDx events around the world, all year long.
For 4 years in a row now, KU Leuven is named Europe’s most innovative university by Reuters. Our 45th
rank in the Times Higher Education and 84th place in the QS World University Rankings are a proof point
of our research-based study programs, which ensure that students acquire academic competencies while
also developing a critical and research-oriented attitude. KU Leuven boasts a strong international
reputation for research excellence. As a comprehensive university, it pursues curiosity-driven and
strategic frontier research as well as targeted and demand-driven research, all in an interdisciplinary
environment. KU Leuven is a founding member of the League of European Research Universities (LERU).

TEDx is a grassroots initiative, created in the spirit of TED’s overall mission to research and
discover “ideas worth spreading.” TEDx brings the spirit of TED to local communities around the globe
through TEDx events. These events are organized by passionate individuals who seek to uncover new ideas
and to share the latest research in their local areas that spark conversations in their communities.
events include live speakers and recorded TED Talks and are organized independently under a free license
granted by TED. These events are not controlled by TED, but event organizers agree to abide by our
and are offered guidelines for curation, speaker coaching, event organizing and more. They learn from us
and from each other. More than 3000 events are now held annually.
